Norma graduated from Mt. St. Mary's College with an AS in Secretarial Science and studied paralegal courses in real estate at Glendale College of Paralegal School. After beginning her career in 1968, she joined the firm in 1970 as a legal secretary and became a paralegal in 1979.  Since 1977 she has specialized in title transfers in and out of trusts, and all aspects of the creation and implementing of FLP's and LLC's; Norma is experienced in the post-mortem funding and allocation of assets between trusts and individuals in carrying out deceased client's estate and gift plans.  Norma's forty plus years of service and dedication to the firm is appreciated by both members of the Firm and our clients.



Jody is the firm's most experienced estate, gift and generation-skipping planning paralegal including the ability to draft documents necessary to carry out such planning. Jody received her Associate Arts Degree in Secretarial Administration as well as receiving a Certificate of Specialization in Word Processing and Legal secretarial courses. Jody has also attended paralegal studies at the University of West Los Angeles. Jody will celebrate her 25th anniversary with the firm in June 2001. 30 plus years of drafting estate, gift and generation-skipping planning documents makes her an invaluable member of our staff.



Paula has worked in the legal profession since 1980. She has extensive experience in corporate and civil litigation and now specializes exclusively in probate and post mortem trust administration in a paralegal capacity. Paula is experienced in the preparation of Federal and State Estate tax returns, and Federal Gift and Generation Skipping transfer returns. Paula's experience with the firm (and its predecessor in interest) is in excess of 10 years. She received a Certificate of Specialization in legal secretarial courses from Pierce College, and a Certificate of Completion from the Legal Secretarial Training Course offered by the Beverly Hills Bar Association.


Kathy has over fifteen years of office administration, bookkeeping, time keeping, billing administration, accounts receivable records maintenance and collection experience with the firm. Kathy received two years of education and training at Valley College in the San Fernado Valley. Kathy primarily handles all aspects of the firm billing and accounts receivables. 


Kevin graduated from the University of the Pacific in 1981, with a BA in Economics. Kevin worked as a pension administrator from 1984 to 1992 and then took 10 years off to raise his four children. Kevin joined the Firm in 2002, and studied paralegal courses online through Cal State Dominquez Hills (Legal Studies Online), obtaining his paralegal certificate in May of 2008. Kevin works in various fields for the Firm, including LPS conservatorships, corporate formations and annual reporting, estate planning, office management and systems administration.


Debra earned her Bachelor of Science, from Marist College, New York in May 2005 graduating, Summa Cum Laude and obtained her Paralegal Certification, Marist College, New York, January 2004 distinguishing herself on Dean’s List 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005, Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. Debra has experience in commercial litigation, working independently in the preparation of pleadings, pretrial, trial and post trial motions, conducting research and analysis on factual issues for discovery and investigations.


Laraine Mestman is a Paralegal working with Joel M. Simon, Esq. in LPS Conservatorships.

Ms. Mestman is a certified paralegal in litigation from the University of California, Los Angeles and holds certificates in facilitation and mediation from the Los Angles County Bar Association Dispute Resolution Services, Straus Institute, Pepperdine, EEOC, Centinela Youth Services, and the U.S. Post Office.  Ms. Mestman has extensive experience working with the Alternative Dispute Resolution office within the Los Angeles Superior Court system.  She has lectured on conflict resolution, trained peer mediators, trained mediator volunteers, served as a mediator for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, US Postal EEO Service, Los Angeles Superior Court, Beverly Hills Small Claims Court, Centinela Youth Services and the West Hollywood office of the LA County Bar Association Dispute Resolution Services.  She is on faculty at CSUN, training students in the courtroom setting in civil harassment and small claims mediation.  Ms. Mestman is currently working with the LACBA, Bet Tzedek Legal Services and the City of Los Angeles on developing a community elder mediation program in conjunction with a Tel Aviv partnership.

In addition to her certificates as a paralegal and mediator, Ms. Mestman holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, San Diego.  


Laura Klein joined our Firm in 2011 and earned her paralegal certification from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2012.  Laura attended UCLA for two years prior to transferring to Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland, where she completed her international studies and earned her degree.



Sylvia performs administrative, banking and accounts payable bookkeeping services for the firm.
